Thandi means beloved and is the name of the doll I bought from the craft ladies at the Perseverance (Kleinskool) township.
The tag on the doll says:
"This item was hand crafted by Nancy- from Kleinskool Krafts, Port Elizabeth, South Africa. for R40 (about $7)
Outside of Port Elizabeth the unemployment is more than 70%. Many are infected with HIV/AIDS. By purchasing this item you are supplying an enterprising person in the Kleinskool Squatter Camp -providing hope for the future.
