No silo... no worries!

Here in Tz, maize is the most common crop, closely followed by beans, providing a well rounded diet when accompanied by 'ugali', their tasteless, firm version of cream of wheat. Maize fields blanket the countryside, bright green and well over 6ft tall when healthy and fully grown.
Because of little to no access to storage, they dry the maize on the stalk. Here's a shot we took two days ago of a harvest with Mt Kilimanjaro in the background. It looks dead doesn't it, but when you look closely you'll find fully formed cobs of maize ready to be picked.
