The ex-pat community in Arusha is alive and well. Along with the various missionaries based in the area and reaching out to the remote areas of Maasialand etc., there is also quite a large community of UN workers, Safari companies and other Tourist businesses.
Some of the people in the ex-pat community are Christians though the majority are not. Many, however, are seeking answers to spiritual questions and show sensitivity to God.
One such family recently asked David to dedicate their 2 adopted children to God. After dialogue with the family it was clear that God had given this couple a heart to bless these 2 little orphans from South America and that they wanted their new lives to be filled with God’s blessing.
David had the great privilege of leading a dedication ceremony for the family and 40 or so guests, praying for the parents and the children, sharing a message explaining the Father’s heart for children and also for us.
To show her gratitude, the mother, a talented and well-known artist, gave David one of her watercolours of a small African girl sitting in the grass with a soccer ball at her feet. What a blessing it is when God puts people in your life to share His love with them and to demonstrate His open arms.
