"this morning I'm praising God, my leg swelling but not worse."

This is part of a message we received from Loitu via text message in response to receiving 2 new soccer balls from Bonnie and Paul during their visit here at Engedi.

Loitu is a teacher who is completing his primary teacher's qualifications here at the teachers college. His passion is teaching and soccer. He lives in Magugu and will be teaching at the Joshua school upon graduation and is currently a student teacher there.

His face is always beaming and his knowledge of soccer players in the Premiership and European Leagues is astounding and exceeds that of most British fans. He shares the same loyalty as David to the Chelsea soccer team and keeps him up to date on all the latest.

He is not only involved in teaching but has a passion to impact his community and has already initiated a number of programmes for the children in his area. He is Masai. His community is predominantly Muslim.

Although nearly all of his spare time is spent playing soccer or watching soccer or organising community soccer games he has a meticulous academic record with his latest report showing straight A's. However, recently he was injured in a friendly soccer game and is currently been ordered to rest for 6 weeks by the doctor.

Loitu will play with any thing resembling a ball and you can imagine his delight when he was given 2 brand new FIFA balls by Bonnie and Paul. One was to be used by the student teachers and one was for his school students. His face was beaming...
The text message he sent the next morning read: "Hi David and Judith, how are you doing this morning? How is Bon and wife? This morning, I'm praising God, my leg swelling but not worse."
