Major Surgery on "Rhino Charge" No.38

Mandeep and Bubbly are Vineyard friends we often stay with when in Nairobi. They have two of the cutest kids. Bubbly is an incredible cook who loves entertaining. We have lots of fun when we go there.
Mandeep is a mechanic and how?! He is the automotive 'surgeon' behind the No. 38 regular entry into the Rhino Charge event. This is a gruelling 10 hour 4x4 rally event in Kenya, with the winner covering the shortest distance from A to B via 13 check points, with No. 38 coming either second or third in recent years, yet to score top spot. The event is a conservation fundraiser, located in a different remote area of Kenya every year. It's arguably the toughest one day car event in the world.
Sean Avery is the entrant and this year has got Mandeep to totally strip down the Land Rover, change axle and rebuild the thing, deadline this June.
The pictures (most enlargeable), show where things are up to as of last week! (That's our Toyota Surf in the background next to the 'new' axle, in an unsubtle attempt to 'get in on the glory'!) Check it out on Google.
