We flew out of Joberg Friday afternoon, leaving the conference centre in Magaliesberg after breakfast.
Wonderful flight up with two delightful medic students, spending almost four hours talking about God. Arrived in Dar at 7:30pm and caught a 90 minute taxi ride to where we were staying. Spent half an hour practicing for worship on Sunday at our friends place (knowing we'd have no time when we got back) before crashing and hitting the road at 5:30am.
Pulled over twice (we weren't the drivers at the time) on the way back to Arusha for speeding - 30km zones in the middle of nowhere!
After more than 9 hrs driving, we arrived back in Arusha just before the Nairobi shuttle came in with our four Canadian friends. Several months ago, we had planned meeting up at the conference in Sth Africa, and arranged for them to stay two nights with us on their way through to Kigali, Rwanda. What a blast we had!
Vern spoke on Sunday morning, after Mike and I had led worship (both of us grateful for the practice we'd squeezed in at Dar Es Salaam). Vern preached a great sermon on trust, with a very positive response.
Next morning, we had breakfast, talked around the table then raced off to Kilimanjaro Airport, an hour's drive, for the folk to catch a 13:15hrs flight that didn't exist. The only flight was in fact scheduled for 15:00hrs - the web site had the wrong time listed.
Headed back to host an Alpha evening at our home ... then a well-earned break (day off) on Tuesday. Now we're ready to head off to Nairobi 6am tomorrow (Friday). And they said the pace in Africa is slow...???
