Busy times means little blogging!!

Our lives are filled with moving house, building a church banda (wooden tent), launching small ministry teams, teaching church planters and visiting our son in Nairobi for his birthday and midterm break.

Amidst the packing, teaching, birthday cake and team building God is at work and we are fulfilled.

Some interesting things I have learned in the last few weeks.

The Nyaturu tribe teach their baby girls that they should think about encouraging other men as lovers when they marry to ensure that they get the basics of food and clothing taken care of should their husbands disappoint in this area.

Men who praise their wives publicly are probably controlled by their wives is a sentiment expressed by some young African men recently.

China is responsible for the invention of paper, xerox, porcelain (think "best china") and many other things - thanks to Zac Owens for this info.

Packing and moving is painful both physically and emotionally overwhelming

My son is writing songs and so are his two sisters... what is up with that?

My son does not like Ethiopian food. He does like Italian food. He also likes naan bread and juice combos.

Building a church banda is amazingly fast when you have the right people and lots of them. Buying grass for a roof costs more than you think it will.

Launching small teams who are led by lay people and giving away vision take a lot of time and communication and excitement.

Daughters who live on the other side of the world are hard to connect with on skype.

Trusting God with daughters who live on the other side of the world and who are stressed out with moving and deadlines is easy in theory.

Documentation for travel in africa is time consuming and complicated and depends on who you know and how nice you are to them... no I am not talking about bribery!

Father's Day is celebrated in East Africa on June 20th like North America.

Babies born in Lutheran hospitals here in Arusha via C-Section make an expensive entrance into this world. They are also extremely beautiful. Welcome to baby Savannah.

"The player with the ball is the one who gets tackled" refers to more than just football.

Lots of "players" of late are getting tackled. Health issues, family issues, pet issues, worker issues.... all seem large at the moment.

Teenage boys hate sex talks by their teachers and counsellors. They are very embarrassed to discuss the subject of sex or have it discussed by others.

Haircuts are cheaper in Nairobi.

Kenyan movies need assistance. Money and expertise!
