Dog Food in Tanzania....

What is it that dogs eat, in Africa?

Dogs are not seen as pets in Tanzania but more used for protection, as guard dogs. Consequently, most guard dogs sleep or are caged all day and are let out in the evening for the night.

Their food is a mixture of rice or ugali (cornstarch) and protein (maybe small fish) and occasionally bones, as well as leftovers. Our dogs also love the whey from cheese.

Our dogs have also been known to eat shoes, ornaments and a bra!

Look what I found in a bush near the house one morning…..
