For such a time as this...

...the future is so uncertain here with growing political tension due to unnecessary poverty. Last week four young men were executed and hanged in our village, apparently thieves. The head of the local ruling party was beheaded just down the road the day before yesterday, when we also had to rescue a guy from an angry mob at the end of our drive, who was about to lose his life for stealing a cell phone and the equivalent of $50. When we heard the screaming, we called our security company who turned up in minutes and took both thief and plaintiff to the local cop station.

We need wisdom and higher level of faith and trust than ever (Ps 46). This, and so much worse, is happening on a daily basis elsewhere on this continent .. we can't complain, we just need to keep figuring out what the Father's doing and find ways to strongly advocate for the poor.

We so love this place - the people are wonderful but sadly, most of the grievances are justified...  tho the violence they're resorting to is not.
We are praying that God would raise a Tanzanian Mandela, a man (or woman) of integrity and wisdom, one who loves his/her people more than personal agenda or benefit.
Though there seems to be no sign as yet, the power of prayer...
