Send me Someone to Love!!!

Please Lord, send me someone to love! by Percy Mayfield

Recently our poor mama guinea fowl sat for 50 days on eggs that did not hatch. Even the chicken eggs we placed under her out of pity, didn't hatch.

Day after day with Ninja like stealth and commitment she flattened her feathered body over the 16 eggs she'd laid in a hidden bank of leaves under a bush. She stayed there day and night, and left only briefly every afternoon for less than an hour to graze.

Eventually, when I could take it no longer, we removed the eggs and flushed them down the toilet. This rather drastic measure was due to the fact that previously, after realising that most of the eggs were either unfertilised or faulty we'd removed them and she had painstakingly collected them all back into the nest.

We took one of the eggs to a local vet who'd given us the news that the problem lay with the male who'd fertilised the eggs.

The male guinea fowl (Kanga in swahili) teeters around the property on woobly legs, sometimes falling over but always soldiering on, eating and grazing.

He is very nervous and if ever he is separated from his mate he makes a high pitched noise expressing his intense anxiety.  Codependent and teetering on wobbly legs the poor guy needs to add the problem of sterility to his of obstacles in life.

Therefore, we dedicate this song by Percy Mayfield to Mrs Guinea Fowl to honour her heartache and join her in praying that God will send her "children" to love. See link below and in the title. :D
