Si Signora...

David writes...

Judi wrote about our visit to the kids' home at Sinethemba. Signora(?) is the founder and resident mother of the home of 66 children. Recently she was nominated for and won an award for the courageous woman of the year of South Africa. She had to travel up to Jo-berg for the ceremony... a harrowing experience, by all accounts!
The dear woman was treated royally, put up in a first-class hotel, with her own sprawling room. The other recipients all got the same, but wanted to all share one because their rooms were too big to be alone in!
Signora kept getting a fright as she walked around because of all the mirrors, her biggest fright when she opened the cupboard to see another person staring right back at her!
She didn't use the bed, not being used to such luxury, leaving the room in perfect condition every day. She got back one evening to find a couple of chamber maids sitting in the room. They said, "We knew someone was staying here because of the luggage, but we had to meet the person who leaves the room better than we can!"
As they say, "TIA" i.e. "This is Africa!"
